In the early hours of May 22, a private jet crashed into the Murphy Canyon neighborhood of San Diego, resulting in multiple fatalities and significant property damage. The Cessna 550 aircraft, which had made a refueling stop in Wichita, Kansas, was en route to Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport when it went down around 3:45 a.m. local time.

Among the deceased were Dave Shapiro, co-founder of Sound Talent Group, and Daniel Williams, former drummer of the band The Devil Wears Prada. The aircraft was registered to Daviator LLC, a company owned by Shapiro.

The crash ignited fires that damaged at least 15 homes and several vehicles. Emergency responders evacuated approximately 100 residents from the area. Eight individuals sustained injuries, with one person hospitalized and others treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.

Preliminary reports suggest that dense fog may have contributed to the accident. The plane reportedly struck power lines before crashing. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
