easyJet will introduce Starlink satellite internet across its narrowbody fleet starting in 2027, the airline announced. The roll-out will cover Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft and is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027, with completion expected by early 2028.
What the rollout covers
The agreement brings the Starlink service, supplied by SpaceX, to Europe’s largest low-cost carrier for the first time in the airline’s history. easyJet operates more than 350 aircraft across its network and carried 100 million passengers in 2025, figures the carrier cited when confirming the fit-out.
| carrier | aircraft types | start | expected completion |
|---|---|---|---|
| easyJet | Airbus A320, A320neo, A321neo | first half of 2027 | early 2028 |
Passenger features and commercial details
easyJet said the service will let customers browse, stream and play online games on their own devices, and the connectivity could eventually enable inflight ordering from seats, although no timetable for that functionality was given. The airline has not published details on whether the wifi will be complimentary or chargeable, nor the costs of installation.
“Giving customers the opportunity to get online in the air will mean even greater choice and convenience when you fly with easyJet,” Kenton Jarvis said.
SpaceX president and chief operating officer Gwynne Shotwell commented on the tie-up in easyJet’s announcement, describing Starlink as a way to provide fast, reliable connectivity through flights, but easyJet’s public statements stopped short of commercial terms or passenger pricing.
- The roll-out covers the airline’s A320 family types and begins in 2027
- Installation is due to complete by early 2028
- easyJet has not disclosed passenger pricing or whether access will be free
The decision follows an earlier public position in which easyJet had ruled out adopting Starlink, with its chief executive saying in January that the numbers did not work at that time. The new agreement marks a reversal of that stance and aligns easyJet with a growing number of carriers selecting SpaceX’s satellite service for onboard connectivity.
For passengers, the introduction of Starlink across easyJet’s short-haul fleet would represent a material change to the onboard offering: the airline has not previously offered wifi across its network. For the industry, the deal is another sign that Starlink continues to expand in commercial aviation, after recent announcements from other carriers adopting the system.
