AERION has appointed César Penciolelli to lead its global airline partnerships and commercial development, with his responsibilities taking effect on 1 October 2026. The role will operate across the organisation’s businesses and teams, with a particular focus on strengthening its engagement with airline customers and partners.
Penciolelli will work across AERION’s commercial activities rather than being limited to a single business area. His remit includes understanding airlines’ priorities and connecting them with the expertise and capabilities available across the group. The appointment places airline relationships at the centre of a transversal commercial role covering regional and global teams.
“César’s experience and understanding of airline partnerships make him particularly well suited to this role. His transversal position will strengthen the way we connect our capabilities around our airline partners and remain closely aligned with their priorities,” said Adrien Thominet, Founder of AERION and Chairman of the holding company behind ECS Group, Global GSA Group, TCE, CargoTech, Mail and More and HealthC’Air.
Experience on both sides of air cargo procurement
An industrial engineer specialising in supply chain, Penciolelli began his career in strategy and operations consulting. His earlier positions included work at Strategy&, part of PwC, and EY, before he moved to CEVA Logistics.
At CEVA, he first worked within the Group Chief Operating Officer’s team and later led Global Air Procurement and Carrier Management within the Air Product organisation. That experience gave him a direct role in working with airlines from the buying side, a background AERION said would support his new responsibilities.
Penciolelli said his work would focus on making the capabilities of AERION’s different businesses more relevant and accessible to airline partners.
“Having worked closely with airlines from the buying side, I understand the importance of strong relationships, clear priorities and solutions that respond to real operational needs. AERION brings together a wide range of expertise. My role is to work across these businesses and with our teams to make those capabilities as relevant and accessible as possible to our airline partners,” Penciolelli said.
Scope of the appointment
The new structure is intended to bring together AERION’s commercial expertise around the requirements of airline partners. Penciolelli’s main areas of responsibility are:
- global airline partnerships;
- commercial development across AERION’s businesses;
- cross-functional work with regional and global teams; and
- connecting airlines with relevant group expertise and capabilities.
The appointment follows Penciolelli’s experience in consulting, logistics and air procurement, and gives him responsibility for maintaining dialogue with airlines across AERION’s wider organisation.
