Airbus delivered 547 commercial aircraft between January and September 2026, up from 507 in the same period a year earlier, as the manufacturer reported stronger revenue, earnings and order intake. The company’s commercial aircraft backlog reached 9,310 aircraft at the end of September, while plans to increase A320 Family production to 75 aircraft a month underline the scale of the order book.
Revenue for the first nine months rose 7% year on year to €50.6 billion. Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes increased 8% to €4.495 billion, while reported EBIT climbed 35% to €4.55 billion. Net income was €3.587 billion, compared with €2.641 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.
Commercial aircraft deliveries and orders
Commercial aircraft revenue increased 8% to €36.7 billion. The A320 Family accounted for nearly 78% of Airbus’s commercial aircraft deliveries during the nine-month period, making the narrowbody programme the principal contributor to the manufacturer’s delivery total.
| Measure | January–September 2026 | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial aircraft deliveries | 547 | 507 in the corresponding period of 2025 |
| Gross commercial aircraft orders | 1,174 | 610 in the corresponding period of 2025 |
| Net commercial aircraft orders | 1,105 | 514 in the corresponding period of 2025 |
| Commercial aircraft backlog | 9,310 | At the end of September 2026 |
Gross commercial aircraft orders more than doubled to 1,174, compared with 610 during the first nine months of 2025. After cancellations, net orders stood at 1,105, also more than twice the 514 recorded a year earlier. The backlog includes aircraft across Airbus’s commercial product range, although the results do not provide a further breakdown of the order total by customer or aircraft variant.
Delivery mix and production plans
The delivery total comprised 68 A220s, 428 A320 Family aircraft, 13 A330s and 38 A350s. The figures cover aircraft handed over during the nine-month period rather than the number of aircraft produced, and therefore provide a measure of deliveries to airline customers and other operators.
- A220 deliveries totalled 68 aircraft.
- A320 Family deliveries reached 428 aircraft.
- A330 deliveries stood at 13 aircraft.
- A350 deliveries totalled 38 aircraft.
Airbus’s plan to lift A320 Family output to 75 aircraft a month is set against the programme’s dominant share of deliveries and the manufacturer’s overall backlog. The results identify the A320 Family as particularly important to airline fleet expansion in the Asia-Pacific market, including India, where carriers are continuing to expand fleets for domestic and international air travel.
Other Airbus divisions
Airbus Helicopters delivered 226 aircraft in the first nine months, compared with 218 in the corresponding period of 2025. Division revenue remained broadly stable at €5.6 billion. Airbus Defence and Space revenue rose 5% to €9.3 billion, while order intake in that division increased 70% to €11.5 billion.
The group’s nine-month figures therefore combine higher commercial aircraft deliveries and order intake with growth across its other major activities. For the civil aviation business, the central indicators are the 547 aircraft delivered, the 1,105 net orders and the backlog of 9,310 aircraft recorded at the end of September.
