RoyalJet has appointed Captain Jesper de Hemmer Horskjaer as Vice President of Flight Operations, formalising his leadership of the Abu Dhabi-based operator’s flight operations division.

Horskjaer previously held the position of acting head of flight operations at RoyalJet. In that capacity, he was responsible for operational excellence, safety and strategic development, according to the company’s announcement.

Operational leadership and training experience

The appointment brings more than 22 years of international aviation experience to RoyalJet’s senior operations team. Horskjaer has also accumulated more than 12,000 flight hours, providing an operational background spanning flight crew management, technical roles and business aviation.

His earlier responsibilities have included Postholder Crew Training, Deputy Director of Flight Operations, Technical Pilot and Training and Type Rating Examiner. The latter roles included work under the oversight frameworks of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.

  • New role: Vice President of Flight Operations
  • Previous RoyalJet position: Acting head of flight operations
  • Experience: more than 22 years and over 12,000 flight hours
  • Aircraft background: Boeing 737 Boeing Business Jet captain

Business aviation fleet and services

Horskjaer has also served as a captain on the Boeing 737 Boeing Business Jet. That experience adds a large-cabin business aircraft perspective to his work in flight operations and crew training at RoyalJet.

RoyalJet operates a fleet comprising Boeing Business Jets and Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft. The company is based at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and provides private charter and aircraft management services, alongside medical evacuation and other business aviation operations.

The new appointment places flight operations leadership with an executive whose stated experience covers both operational delivery and the training functions supporting flight crews. At RoyalJet, those responsibilities sit within a business that combines charter flying with managed aircraft and specialist services, including medical evacuation.
