Vietnam Airlines has launched a direct service between Hanoi and Ahmedabad, opening its seventh route to India as the carrier expands its network between the two countries. The inaugural flight operated on 3 November 2026, departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad for Hanoi.
Four flights each week
The route will operate four round trips per week. The service links Vietnam’s capital with Ahmedabad, a major commercial and cultural centre in Gujarat, and adds another direct option for travellers moving between the two markets.
| Carrier | Origin | Destination | Start date | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vietnam Airlines | Hanoi | Ahmedabad | 3 November 2026 | Four round trips per week |
The launch was marked by a ceremony attended by Vietnam’s ambassador to India, Trinh Minh Manh, and Vietnam Airlines’ director in India, Nguyen Trung Hieu. Manh described the new link as an important step in bilateral connectivity, while Hieu said it represented the airline’s aim of bringing Vietnam closer to Indian travellers.
Vietnam Airlines now connects the country with five Indian cities through seven routes. The latest addition comes as passenger flows between the countries increase. Vietnam received more than 670,000 Indian visitors during the first nine months of 2026, a rise of 33% compared with the same period a year earlier. India was Vietnam’s eighth-largest international visitor market over that period.
Trade and tourism flows
Ahmedabad’s position in Gujarat gives the route relevance beyond leisure travel. The launch statements highlighted the state’s potential for resort tourism, trade and MICE travel, including meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.
- The service is Vietnam Airlines’ seventh route to India.
- It provides four weekly round trips between Hanoi and Ahmedabad.
- The route is intended to support tourism, trade, business activity and wider people-to-people travel.
Abhishek Goyal, chief executive officer and executive director of Aeroprime Group, said the route was expected to support two-way tourism and improve connectivity. The new service also gives travellers from Gujarat direct access to Hanoi and onward destinations in Vietnam, while creating an additional air link for Vietnamese passengers travelling to western India.
The launch follows the reported growth in demand between the two countries and adds capacity to a market where Vietnam Airlines has been steadily extending its presence. Its network expansion provides a direct connection for Ahmedabad while broadening the range of Indian cities served by the Vietnamese flag carrier.
