NetJets is planning a major expansion of its global headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, with more than 365,000 square feet of additional facilities and approximately 800 new jobs in Central Ohio.

The Berkshire Hathaway-owned private aviation company said the multi-year project is targeted for completion in early 2029. The development remains subject to legal and regulatory approvals and will be built at NetJets’ existing campus on Bridgeway Avenue.

New offices and training facilities

The expansion will comprise two new buildings. The planned facilities will add office accommodation and include a dedicated training centre for NetJets flight crews. The project also covers a new parking garage, larger dining and event facilities, and other infrastructure improvements at the headquarters site.

NetJets expects its Central Ohio workforce to reach roughly 3,200 employees when the development is complete. The company did not disclose the cost of the project.

Expansion accompanies fleet investment

NetJets operates a fractional aircraft ownership model, under which customers purchase a share of a business jet and receive access to the company’s fleet. The company dates its origins to 1964 and launched its fractional ownership programme in 1986. Berkshire Hathaway acquired NetJets in 1998.

The Columbus investment comes as NetJets continues to expand and renew its aircraft fleet. The company expects to take delivery of more than 80 new jets in 2026. Its longer-term fleet plans include a September 2023 agreement with Textron Aviation providing options for up to 1,500 Cessna Citation aircraft over 15 years, covering the Citation Ascend, Latitude and Longitude.

  • The Textron Aviation arrangement provides options rather than firm orders for all 1,500 aircraft.
  • NetJets also has a firm order for 12 Bombardier Challenger 3500 business jets, announced by Bombardier in May 2024, with options for a further 232.
  • The Columbus headquarters project follows the reopening of NetJets’ renovated Flight Center in June 2026.

NetJets said the headquarters development is intended to support demand from aircraft owners while accommodating future growth. The City of Columbus, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, JobsOhio and the Federal Aviation Administration are among the organisations identified as supporting the project.
