Dallas Love Field is set for further expansion in scheduled and business aviation, with Southwest Airlines preparing new services and NetJets planning a dedicated private terminal at the Texas airport.

Southwest will launch a non-stop connection between Dallas Love Field and Richmond International Airport on 5 June 2027, according to an airport announcement. The airline has also announced a seasonal Dallas–Bozeman service, which is due to begin in summer 2027. The extracted announcement does not give a precise start date or weekly frequency for the Bozeman operation.

Southwest adds routes and changes Cleveland plans

The new Richmond link will add another destination to Southwest’s operation at Love Field, while the Bozeman service will provide a seasonal connection to Montana. Southwest has separately said that all its flights will have access to Starlink WiFi in autumn 2027.

The carrier has also brought forward the start of another route. Service between Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Dallas Love Field, originally announced as a seasonal operation from 21 November, began on 1 October instead. Southwest now intends to operate the Cleveland route year-round.

NetJets plans dedicated terminal

NetJets is expanding its presence at Love Field through a planned $35 million private terminal, scheduled to open in late 2028. The project will occupy 80,000 square feet and include a private passenger terminal, shops, offices and a new aircraft hangar identified as hangar E.

“We are growing our network to meet customers wherever they travel, giving them more choice and greater access to SIXT.”

That statement was made by Tom Kennedy, president of SIXT North America, in connection with the car rental company’s expansion at Dallas Love Field. SIXT has opened a location at 5800 Maple Avenue, Dallas, as part of its wider network expansion.

The NetJets development will also involve improvements to parking, landscaping and utilities. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, construction will take place in three phases. The first phase will include the demolition of Terminal J and six existing aircraft hangars in buildings E, F, K, L, M and N.

  • Southwest’s Richmond service is scheduled to begin on 5 June 2027.
  • A seasonal Southwest route to Bozeman is planned for summer 2027.
  • NetJets’ private terminal is expected to open in late 2028 following a three-phase development.

The combination of additional scheduled links, a year-round Cleveland operation and a new private aviation facility will broaden the activity planned at Love Field over the coming years. The announcements cover both commercial connectivity and fixed-base infrastructure, with the NetJets project adding dedicated passenger, hangar and office space to the airport’s business aviation facilities.
